The National Milk Producers Federation is updating members on its federal milk marketing order (FMMO) modernization process. A final recommendation package is planned for the NMPF board this fall, with a possible USDA hearing in late 2022 or early 2023.
Congress has also started hearings on dairy provisions of the 2023 Farm Bill.
Changes to milk pricing formulas could alter how dairy farmers are paid and how milk is pooled, but the timeline is long and the price effect is uncertain. Feed buyers should watch for any hearing outcome.
