Brazil's safrinha corn planting is just starting, with only 1% planted in the 2022/23 season versus 5.4% a year earlier, according to AgRural. Wet weather in central Brazil has slowed the soybean harvest and delayed corn planting, and Parana planting is also slightly behind normal.
Delayed safrinha planting raises the risk of a shorter growing window before the dry season, which could tighten Brazilian corn supply and support prices.
