# Indian crop sowing drops with lower rainfall

> India received 13% less rainfall during the southwest monsoon, while total Kharif sowing remained near 130.25 million hectares, down 1% year over year. The USDA forecast corn sowing would fall 3%, and below-normal rainfall and looming El Niño conditions are expected to shape Rabi planting toward more drought-resilient crops.
