# High Calibre wheat tops Browns Well crop comp

> A Calibre wheat crop estimated at 3.8 tonnes per hectare won the 2026 Browns Well crop competition in South Australia’s Riverland Mallee. The grower said 320 millimeters of rainfall helped make it a strong season, although tight nitrogen budgets and low grain prices remained concerns.

## Why it matters

The strong local season points to improved wheat availability in the district, but a single crop-competition result is too limited to imply a broader price move.
