# Corn planting reaches 80% of projected area in the state

> Planting covered 80% of Rio Grande do Sul’s projected 896,401 hectares of corn for the 2026/27 season, with progress varying by region. Frequent rain and high soil moisture have delayed early plant development, reduced nitrogen-fertilizer efficiency in some fields, and caused stand gaps and localized replanting.
