# Regional split for 2017 OSR area - Farmers Guide

> AHDB's winter planting survey put English oilseed rape area at 538,000 ha as of 1 December 2016, 1% below the 2016 harvested area. Plantings fell sharply in the East and North East, largely due to cabbage stem flea beetle risk, while the South West saw an 11% rise. The survey estimated the four main crops at 2.59 million ha, broadly unchanged from 2016.
