> A farm trial in Delungra, north-west New South Wales, recorded wide variation in frost exposure, from no frost hours to nearly 350 hours below freezing. It is comparing 36 wheat and 18 barley varieties across two sowing dates to assess yield, grain quality and flowering time and provide locally tailored crop data.

## Why it matters

The trial may help growers improve sowing decisions and manage frost-related yield and quality risks, but it does not establish a regional production change or immediate market supply shock. No near-term price implication is indicated.
