# Rabi sowing season: DAP shortage threatens crop yields

> Pakistan is facing a shortage of imported DAP fertilizer during the 2026–27 Rabi sowing season, with shipments delayed at Karachi Port and supply bottlenecks reported in Punjab and Sindh. Industry sources warn that delays in applying phosphate fertilizer could reduce wheat yields by 20–25%, while dealers are rationing stocks and prices are rising.

## Why it matters

Port and distribution delays are restricting fertilizer availability during a critical application window, potentially lowering Pakistan’s wheat output and increasing demand for imported grain. Tight DAP availability also supports fertilizer prices.
