# Mexico buys more grains and pays more

> Mexico's grain, oilseed and derivative imports reached 37.3 million tonnes in the first nine months of the year, up 5.1% from a year earlier, while spending rose 8.1% to $11.92 billion according to customs data compiled by GCMA. Corn accounted for 52.2% of the volume, with 19.46 million tonnes imported, and soy complex products drove more than 70% of the net increase in the import bill.
