# High mandi prices boost farmers' income

> Mandi prices for Indian kharif crops such as paddy, pulses and oilseeds are running well above last year and minimum support prices despite lower yields from inadequate monsoon rains. Soybean is trading around Rs 7000 per quintal, up 55% year on year and above its Rs 5708 MSP, while SOPA estimates 2026 kharif soybean output at 10.79 million tonnes, down 2.1%.

## Why it matters

Tighter Indian oilseed and pulse supplies support domestic prices and could lift soymeal and oilseed demand from the region, while higher farm incomes may encourage more oilseed planting next season.
