# Energy raises costs across Spain's agri-food sector and trims the trade surplus

> Plataforma Tierra's quarterly analysis says energy costs pressured Spain's agri-food sector in Q3 2026, with Brent averaging $116.8 a barrel in September and European gas up 63% on Q2. Spanish CPI reached 4.9% in September, food and non-alcoholic beverages rose 2.7%, and the winter cereal estimate was cut 21% to 15.8 million tonnes.
