> Highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N9) was confirmed at a farm in Yeoncheon County, Gyeonggi Province, raising about 91,000 laying hens, the first such case at a domestic poultry farm this winter season. Authorities ordered culling, access controls and movement restrictions within the control zone.

## Why it matters

Culling of laying hens reduces domestic egg supply and can lift egg prices, while raising demand for imported feed ingredients is limited; the impact on feed commodities is minor since this is a single farm in a small producing region.
