# BJP netas' union 'rift' brings cargo ops to a halt at Petrapole | Kolkata News - The Times of India

> Infighting within the BJP-affiliated Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh union has halted cargo loading and unloading at the Petrapole India-Bangladesh land port for about 48 hours. Officials of the Land Port Authority of India say import and export operations have not been affected so far. A proposal by a junior shipping minister to split the workers into two groups remained unresolved as of Tuesday.

## Why it matters

A stoppage at a major India-Bangladesh land crossing can delay cross-border trucks and agricultural shipments, but the authorities report no effect on trade so far. The impact on feed-ingredient prices is likely minimal unless the dispute persists.
