# Fertilizer Prices Rise as Local Supply Remains Limited

> Fertilizer costs have risen as much as 40% this year, with the Pacific Northwest hit harder because it has little local fertilizer production. DTN's latest survey shows seven of eight major fertilizers rose last month, with UAN28 up 6% to $447 per ton. Anhydrous ammonia averaged $987 per ton and potash $506 per ton, and all eight remain more expensive than a year ago.

## Why it matters

Import-dependent regions face longer lead times and more price risk on purchases, which keeps fertilizer costs high for feed-grain producers. Tight nitrogen and potash supply supports higher prices for urea and potash.
