# Farmgate milk price to increase by 2.8 per cent in 2027

> The Canadian Dairy Commission announced a 2.8% increase in the farmgate milk price, equal to about $0.0259 per litre, effective February 1. The increase is below the 3.5548% the National Pricing Formula calculated, because the commission temporarily suspended the formula and chose a measured adjustment.

## Why it matters

The smaller-than-formula increase reflects a policy decision to limit farm-gate price growth, which helps dairy processors but squeezes producers facing rising input costs. The effect on feed demand and grain prices is small.
