# Soybean 2026/27 planting accelerates to 53%; Mato Grosso recovers, but Matopiba stalls

> AgRural reported Brazil's 2026/27 soybean planting reached 53% of projected area as of 29 October, up 13 points in a week and ahead of 47% a year earlier. Mato Grosso benefited from widespread rain, while drought continues to delay planting in the Matopiba region of the Northeast.

## Why it matters

Rapid planting in Mato Grosso, which produces about 27% of Brazil's soybeans, reduces weather risk and supports larger export supply, which is mildly bearish for soybean prices. Delays in Matopiba are a localized yield risk.
