# A Surplus of Fertilizer in Sri Lanka

> Sri Lanka's Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Namal Karunaratne, said claims of a national fertilizer shortage are false. He stated that urea stocks exceed the roughly 180,000 metric tons needed for paddy cultivation. He also cited about 31,000 tons of available TSP against a Maha season need of around 25,000 tons, plus over 5,000 tons of SSP.
