# Timeline for production start up at Quaker Oats unclear after fire

> PepsiCo, which runs the Quaker Oats plant in Cedar Rapids, has not yet given a timeline for resuming production after an October 24 fire. The company is still assessing the damage and working to make the facility fully operational. Repair time depends on the plant's construction and how long the fire burned.

## Why it matters

A prolonged outage at a major oats processing plant could reduce demand for oats and oat milling byproducts in the short term, though the effect on feed grain prices is likely small.
