# International port strike reveals workers’ militancy ahead of November 5 strike in France - World Socialist Web Site

> Dockworkers from at least 113 ports in 22 countries joined an international day of action on October 30, 2026, against war and militarization. The action was tied to the Istanbul Declaration from May 2026. National one-day strikes across Europe are planned for November, starting with a November 5 strike in France.

## Why it matters

The action is mainly political, but planned European port strikes could slow cargo handling at some continental ports. Any effect on feed or grain flows would likely be small and localised.
