# Study Finds High Levels of Genetically Altered Organisms in Mexican Tortillas

> A UNAM study led by Elena Álvarez-Buylla Roces found GMO content in over 90% of tested tortillas and over 80% of other corn meal products. The researchers said the results surprised them given the restrictions on commercial GMO corn planting since 2013.
