# Human avian influenza cases in China shake up global poultry markets

> Rabobank's Global Poultry Quarterly for Q1 2017 reports that a sharp rise in human avian influenza cases in China has pushed live broiler prices down about 50% from early Q3 2016 to historic lows. Wet markets, which sell more than half of poultry, have lost customers and import growth has slowed. Trade restrictions from Europe and the U.S. continue.
