# Beef exports key to market improvement – Wyoming Livestock Roundup

> Colorado State University economist Stephen Koontz told producers that heavier cattle production will keep prices low unless consumption grows, projecting fed cattle at $1.30 to $1.35 and feeders at $1.30 to $1.70 per pound for at least two years. He said beef exports will be needed to absorb the extra production, with Japan the largest market.
