# Demand from China, Africa supports Vietnamese rice prices at harvest end | VOV.VN

> Vietnamese five percent broken rice rose to $355-$360 a ton FOB, the highest since August 2016, as China and several African countries returned to buy fragrant and white rice. Vietnamese prices remain $35-$40 a ton below Thai grain. Paddy output from the winter-spring crop eased 2 percent to 9.8 million tons.
