# Indonesia urged to build cow hubs

> The Indonesian Meat Importers Association says the government should create new cattle production zones, because existing areas are shrinking to urban and tourism development. ## Why it matters

Indonesia's continued reliance on livestock and beef imports sustains import demand. A policy shift toward domestic breeding would reduce future import needs over time.
