# XPO hit by port strike

> Port and rail drivers working as independent contractors for XPO Cartage began a strike at the twin ports of Los Angeles/Long Beach and the ICTF rail yard, protesting job misclassification and retaliation over wage-theft claims. The Teamsters say 12,000 drayage drivers at the ports are affected, and a state labor commissioner award of US$1 million to five drivers is under appeal by XPO.

## Why it matters

Picketing at the largest US container complex can slow container and rail movements, which may raise logistics costs and delay agricultural export containers such as feed ingredients and grain-related cargo; the direct price effect on feed commodities is likely minor.
