# Hundreds of workers go on strike at Jakarta’s Tanjung Priok port - FreightWaves

> Over 650 workers at Jakarta International Container Terminal struck from August 3, with the action possibly lasting until August 10. The terminal handles about 70% of the Tanjung Priok port's import and export traffic. The union says the strike is over bonus payments cut after contract renewal in 2015.

## Why it matters

A week-long shutdown of the main container terminal in Jakarta can delay imports and exports of feed-related cargo through Indonesia. The effect on commodity prices is limited because the disruption is short and mainly affects containers.
