# Dry cuts ABARES crop forecast to 36m tonnes | ACT

> ABARES cut its national winter crop forecast by about 9% to 36.3 Mt, roughly 40% below the record 2016-17 harvest. North West NSW, South West Queensland and northern Western Australia may see many crops unharvested, and frost damage could reduce yields further.

## Why it matters

A deeper cut to Australian winter grain output tightens exportable supply of wheat, barley and canola, supporting feed grain and meal prices.
