# Weekly Digest: MPP-Dairy late filing a ‘black swan’ option - | Ag Proud

> A Progressive Dairyman digest notes that dairy farmers have until December 15, 2017 to make 2018 Margin Protection Program decisions, and that late filing is available only at the catastrophic $4/cwt level without retroactive payments. The digest also reports that cottonseed supplies should stay ample despite hurricane damage.

## Why it matters

Limited late-filing coverage leaves most farmers relying on the December deadline, which affects how much margin protection they hold against milk-feed cost squeezes. Ample cottonseed supply keeps dairy feed costs contained.
