# Brent crude oil hits 2½-year high on Forties pipeline outage

> Brent crude hit a 2½-year high of $64.85 after INEOS said it would shut the Forties pipeline for several weeks to repair a pipe crack. The pipeline carries about 450,000 barrels a day, roughly 40% of UK North Sea output.
