# Webb Dock: diary of a dispute

> A retrospective account describes the Webb Dock dispute at Melbourne's Victorian International Container Terminal, which involved 19 days of round-the-clock picketing. The action blocked containers in defiance of two Supreme Court injunctions and triggered a solidarity strike that shut most of the waterfront. The article says the dispute won a partial result, including reinstating a sacked union delegate.

## Why it matters

The dispute's resolution reduces the risk of further prolonged disruption at Australia's largest port for grain and other exports. Any renewed labor action at the terminal could still delay export cargoes.
