# Ohio’s corn crop pleasant surprise; soybeans not so much

> Ohio farmers reported corn yields well above the USDA's 173 bpa estimate, with many harvesting 200-plus bpa. Soybean yields fell about four bushels from 2016. Average prices were $3.50 per bushel for corn and $9.39 for soybeans, both lower than 2016.

## Why it matters

Strong Ohio corn yields add to ample feed grain supply and point to lower corn prices. Weaker soybean yields offer only limited support for soybean prices.
