# Late rain pushes growth in grain harvest | Farm Weekly | WA

> The Grain Industry of WA's season summary puts the 2017 state grain harvest at 14.27 million tonnes, up about 5 million tonnes from initial July estimates but below 2016's record 18.2 million. Wheat fell 25% from 2016 due to dry conditions in the north and northeast, and the oat crop dropped 48%. Barley fell about 9% and canola fell more than 11%.
