# The soybean market is shocked by the USDA report

> USDA's Prospective Plantings report showed U.S. farmers intend to plant 88.982 million acres of soybeans, below the expected 91 million acres and last year's 90.1 million. Soybeans rose 2.6% to a two-week high of $383/t and meal rose 3.4%, while a 3.8% increase in March 1 soybean stocks did not pressure prices. Weak export sales were partly attributed to Chinese buyers shifting away from U.S. soybeans over possible tariffs.
