# High water disrupts navigation across much of Mississippi

> Heavy rainfall across the Mississippi and Ohio valleys caused widespread flooding, and the USDA's Grain Transportation Report said the Army Corps closed the Markland, McAlpine and Smithland locks on the Ohio. Lower Mississippi barge tows were cut from 40 to 30 barges and daylight-only passage was imposed at Vicksburg and Memphis, with restrictions expected for several weeks.
