# Corn Futures Lows vs. Crop Ratings

> DTN analyst Joel Karlin says corn futures have retreated over the past month regardless of trade woes, due to generally favorable growing conditions and some of the highest corn crop ratings ever for this time of year. Some analysts are raising 2018 U.S. yield estimates to as high as 180 bpa versus USDA's current 174 bpa, which would beat the record 176.6 bpa set last year.
