# DAP fertiliser price up by Rs140 per bag

> The Indian government raised the subsidised-era retail price of DAP fertilizer by Rs140 per 50kg bag, from Rs1,250 to Rs1,390, ahead of the rabi season. Farmer groups called the increase unacceptable, and officials attributed it to rupee depreciation and higher imported phosphate and potash costs.

## Why it matters

A higher DAP price in India reflects stronger import costs from firmer phosphate and potash prices and a weaker rupee, which supports fertilizer prices and could curb rabi-season application volumes.
