# Coming changes in marine fuel sulfur limits will affect global oil markets -
		U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA)

> The IMO will cut the maximum sulfur content of marine fuel on the open seas from 3.5% to 0.5% starting January 2020. The open-ocean marine fuel market is about 3.9 million b/d. The EIA says the rule will add uncertainty to crude and product price formation.
