# Louisiana Rice Research Board Annual Report 2019

> The LSU AgCenter released its 2019 Louisiana Rice Research Board annual report, covering breeding progress such as hybrid LAH169. The report notes 2018 yields above 9,000 pounds per acre in Louisiana and over 11,000 pounds in Arkansas, and says seed delays from Hurricane Maria will push back that hybrid's release.

## Why it matters

Research updates on hybrid varieties affect long-term yield potential but do not move near-term rice prices. Buyers can treat this as background on supply capacity.
