> The Mexican peso has appreciated 6.09% against the dollar since December 14, making it the best-performing emerging-market currency over that period, ahead of the South African rand at 4.78% and the Brazilian real at 3.90%. Foreign investors bought about 97.3 billion pesos of Mexican government debt over the last five weeks, led by long-term M bonds.
