# Mixed Blessing From Heavy Rain

> A DTN column reviews the latest U.S. Climate Assessment, which reports rising precipitation and heavier rain events across much of the northern and eastern U.S. It links this to the wet 2018 season, which delayed corn and soybean planting across the western and northern Midwest.

## Why it matters

Persistent heavy rain and planting delays point to yield and quality risk for the 2018 crop and possibly future seasons. The column is commentary on past conditions, so its price effect is limited.
