> The WMO February 2019 update says east-central tropical Pacific sea surface temperatures were at or slightly below El Niño thresholds in January and February. Some atmospheric indicators reached weak El Niño levels in late January and February, and about two thirds of models predict a return to weak El Niño in Q2 2019. The chance of El Niño during March-May 2019 is put at 50-60%, while the chance of a strong event is low.
