# Flooding continues to disrupt barge traffic in U.S. - FreightWaves

> Severe storms and flooding across the Great Plains have disrupted barge traffic on most inland waterways for two weeks. Traffic through St. Louis was fully stopped as of May 30 with the gauge at 42.4 feet, and the forecast shows levels not dropping below 38 feet until mid-June. Barge traffic is suspended on the lower Illinois and much of the Arkansas rivers.
