# Mosaic plans to idle Louisiana operations

> Mosaic is idling its Louisiana phosphates operations in St. James Parish to cut production by about 500,000 tons this year. The company said excess imports have pushed down prices and that it will begin $250 million in stock buybacks. Mosaic expects a more balanced global market by 2020.
