# Europe is not doing enough to fight global deforestation - European Data Journalism Network - EDJNet

> A report by the Dutch NGO IDH says European food companies must move to zero deforestation, noting the EU used 34.4 million tonnes of soybeans, soy protein and soybean oil in 2017, about 12 percent of global soybean output.
