# Europe dominates LNG import story in 2019 | Hydrocarbon Engineering

> ICIS data shows global LNG exports reached 355 million tonnes in 2019, up from 314.9 million tonnes in 2018, the largest annual increase on record. Europe absorbed much of the new supply, with US output rising by almost 15 million tonnes.

## Why it matters
