# China's pork imports climb 75%

> China's pork imports jumped 75% to a record in 2019 as African swine fever cut hog numbers and Beijing sought to curb prices. China imported 88.5 million tons of soybeans in 2019, up 0.5%, with December arrivals at 9.5 million tons, the highest since May 2018. The phase-one trade deal was due to be signed January 15.
