# Biofuels policies to massively increase deforestation by 2030 –… | T&E

> A study commissioned by Rainforest Foundation Norway projects that EU and other biofuel policies could raise palm and soy oil demand by up to 90% and 75% by 2030. This could cause about 7 million hectares of deforestation and 11.5 billion tonnes of CO2 emissions. The study says palm biodiesel is three times worse for the climate than regular diesel.
