# Global phosphorus fertiliser prices hit decade lows | Farm Online | ACT

> International phosphorus fertiliser prices have fallen to their lowest levels in more than a decade, with DAP and MAP down from about $600/t at the start of the year to $384/t. Australian retail prices for MAP and DAP have dropped to the low-to-mid $500s a tonne. Lower prices are encouraging Australian farmers to place early orders for new-season fertiliser.

## Why it matters

Increased production and weaker demand have pushed phosphate prices down, and the lower costs are filtering through to farm-level buying. Continued weakness in DAP keeps input costs low for crop producers.
