# Curbs result in drop in chicken prices - The Hindu

> Bird flu outbreaks and subsequent import bans in Indian states have created a glut of poultry in local markets, pushing chicken prices down to about 60 rupees per kg in Karnataka against production costs near 80. ## Why it matters

Oversupply and falling prices cut near-term feed buying by Indian poultry integrators, a bearish factor for regional feed ingredients. Demand may recover if consumption holds, limiting the downside.
