> New Zealand fertiliser suppliers Ravensdown and Ballance raised urea prices to between $669 and $799 per tonne, a 10-year high. Ballance also lifted prices for SustaiN, MOP and DAP, citing strong global demand, higher European gas and coal costs, and high freight rates.

## Why it matters

Higher urea and phosphate costs raise the cost of crop inputs and can shift farm margins toward lower application rates. Global nitrogen and phosphate prices are being pushed up by energy costs and firm demand, which supports fertiliser prices into the coming season.
